Quick Look Up...
You may already know you can get the definition of any word in a book you are reading by toggling the 5-way switch down, or to the left or right, until the blinking cursor is to the left of the word in question. You will then see the beginning of the definition appear at the bottom of your Kindle screen. If that isn't enough for you and you want to read more, press the little crooked arrow (pointing to the left) just below the DEL key on your Kindle keyboard and you will be taken to another screen to read more on the definition.
What if you just want a quick definition for a word ... just a random word, not in a particular book you are reading? Say someone tosses you a challenge? Well read on kiddies...
Just type the word you want defined, if you have a book opened or are on the Home screen of your Kindle. Once you have the word typed, toggle your 5-way switch to the right until dictionary is highlighted. Then press in on the 5-way switch to make something happen. You will see your word appear again with the words search dictionary to the right. Toggle to the right and press in on the 5-way switch again. Now you will see a list of closely spelled words. Press in on the 5-way again and the definition page will appear with probably more than you ever need to know about that particular word. If you can spell it, you can find it!
When you are finished in Dictionary Land, press the Back button to return to your reading.
Enjoy!
