Free on Amazon Today - To be delivered later?

I'm not sure what to think of this list of free books for our Kindles. Many on this list have future dates of delivery. They are free now, but perhaps the date they are available, they won't be free any longer? So if you are interested, pre order them while they are free to make sure you get yours. They will be delivered to your Kindle on the designated date, and won't cost a thing.
Note: If you are reading this on your Kindle and want to get a book from the Kindle store now, type the title with your Kindle, then toggle your 5-way switch to the right until the word store is highlighted. Press in on it to search. When the title comes up, use the 5-way toggle switch to move around the book info area to read more about the book. Make sure it is still free (or an acceptable price) before finally pressing in on the 5-way switch to "buy" it. You can always press the back button (before you press buy) if you change your mind.

And remember... what is FREE today may not be FREE tomorrow, so get it while you can!

Computer Skills - Right Click for Control

A right mouse click gives you a context menu no matter what you are clicking. My favorite expression is, "The right mouse button gives you choices. The left mouse button makes things happen!"

The right mouse button can give you a lot of extra control. Instead of a wobbly drag and a "God knows where you'll drop it," when you are trying to copy a file from one location to another, try right clicking the file in question first. Choose copy. Then navigate to where you want to put the copy and right click there. Choose paste. It really is that easy, and it doesn't matter if you are copying from one folder to another, or from one drive to another (like the documents folder on your Kindle). It doesn't have to be only files. Try your right click inside your favorite software. It is amazing what you can learn by poking around and right clicking. Where you right click (or Control+click if you use a Mac) will determine what your choices will be.
Mac users: You have a "right click" too... hold down your Control key while you click something. You will see choices all over the place. Choices are good.

Kindle Skills - Travel with your Kindle

Your Kindle Battery should be fine for a short (few days) road trip. Be sure to bring your charger and charge it at night in the hotels. If you are going overseas and plan to be gone over a week, but less than two, make sure you carry your charger and any adaptors you may need for a foreign outlet.

If you need to get the most out of your battery on your Kindle, turn off the Internet access unless you absolutely need it at the time, like maybe once or twice a day. This can turn days of use into almost two weeks. You will be amazed. If recharging isn't as handy as you would like, this will help insure you have your books handy when you want them.
To turn off the wireless, press the menu button from the home screen. Toggle the 5 way and select wireless off. Turn it back on the same way (toggle and choose wireless on).

One of the largest battery drains can happen if you download several books at a time. Kindle has to index each book (that's why the search is so good), and this takes a little time, and quite a few battery resources. So any time you need to add a bunch of books at once, it wouldn't hurt to put your Kindle on the charger overnight, just to make sure it can recharge good.

Manybooks.net note: You can actually download these books from your Kindle, directly from the web site. It is certainly worth clicking these book links and experimenting with your 5-way toggle. It may be a little clunky, but actually works fine. You will make good use of that free Amazon whispernet connection. The .mobi file format is my personal favorite for books from Manybooks.net on my Kindle, but you can also use .prc, .txt, and .azw files with no trouble. Experiment with them all and decide for yourself which formats you like the best. Manybooks.net books are always FREE!
