Kindle Skills - Finding Free eBooks

June 14, 2010 Cindy O'Neal

Favorite Places to Graze for FREE Books:
I'm typing the full web address for these places so if you have your Kindle close to your main computer, you can just type them in and save them in your favorites. You can also click the link from your Kindle and browse that way. If you love browsing, these will keep you busy for a while!
  • Internet Archive - http://www.archive.org/details/texts - This place even has a link to the Library of Congress
  • Manybooks.net - http manybooks://.net - One of my favorite places for perfectly formatted books for the Kindle
  • Top 100 Project Gutenberg books - http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/scores/top - also is a foot in the door to the main Gutenberg site
  • Baen Free Books - http://www.baen.com/library/ - if you love Science Fiction... This is a little rough around the edges, but still very good.
  • Inkmesh - http://inkmesh.com/free-ebooks/?site=kindle - absolutely the latest freebies from quite a few sources (Amazon included). I use this to see what is newly free on the Barnes & Noble site too. You might want to install the BN software (free of course) on your computer, and on your iPhone/iTouch (if you have one). It will certainly give you an additional outlet for very good free books, and you will have purchase options at both Amazon and Barnes & Noble. There is nothing like good competition.
  • Free Kindle Books - http://www.freekindlebooks.org/ - A nice, easy to follow list of links, very well organized.
  • Feedbooks - http://www.feedbooks.com/ A smorgasbord of Public Domain, as well as new original books from new authors. Very nice site!
