On the Internet:
Manybooks.net (one of my personal favorites)
Inkmesh.com keeps track of a free ebooks from several sources. It is fun to check in with every now and then.
FreeKindleBooks.org is sort of an mishmash of other places to find more goodies. Certainly it is worth a look.
On Amazon:
The best place to start is with a search on Amazon using the words free book collections. You will be taken to a special collections area on Amazon that practically holds your hand and directs you to the latest and greatest in FREE out-of-copyright, pre-1923 books and free limited-time promotional offers for your Kindle.
You can also find a link to the Free eBook Collections by going to the Kindle Store part of Amazon, then clicking the link toKindle eBooks in the top row of links right under the search box. Once you are in the Kindle eBooks area, look in the far left column under Special Features and you will see the link to Free eBook Collections toward the bottom of that list.
Scroll down a bit and look for a link to Limited-time Promotional Offers or Kindle Popular Classics. Click either link, then browse for a title just like any other Kindle book. Once you get to the search results page, look toward the top of the list and to the right for the sorting choices. Click the little down arrow to the right of the Sort by box and choose Price: Low to High. This will insure the free offerings are listed first.
Now THIS is BROWSING!
Genre Searching:
Go to the Kindle Store on Amazon, look in the left column and scroll down until you see the Kindle eBooks list. You will see it sectioned off by genres like Fiction, Nonfiction, Advice & How-To, etc. Pick any one you want to browse by clicking on it once. Romance is a goodie to practice with. You will see your browser page change to the Romance section of the Kindle store, with a further break down in the far left column under the word Browse. Click the word Historical and the page will change to another search results page. At the top left you will see the words Showing 1-12 of 7,708 results. Look to the right of those words and click the down arrow to the right of the sort box and choose Price: Low to High.
Happy Grazing!
