Kindle Skills - Screen Rotation

While you are reading a book, you can rotate the screen if you need to see better. This comes in handy with pdf files that open better now on the latest Kindle, but still leave a lot to be desired as far as viewing is concerned.

If you rotate your page so you have the wide view, you should be able to see the entire width of the page.

To "lock" your screen into portrait or landscape (wide) mode:

  • Press the Text (Aa) key on the bottom row of the keyboard. Screen Rotation will be displayed at the bottom of the menu.
  • Move the 5-way to select one of the 4 options. This will lock your screen in that view until you change it again.
  • Press the center button on the 5-way to lock in your changes.
NOTES
  • The Kindle DX has an auto option on the Screen Rotation line. Choose this and your screen will rotate depending on how you hold it.
  • You can only view Kindle Store pages in portrait (tall) mode.
  • The buttons work the same in any rotation, but the 5-way controller movements will switch when you switch rotation to match the way you are holding your Kindle.
