Great Browsing

With the Home screen showing on your Kindle, type the word mobi. Toggle the 5-way switch until store is highlighted, then press in on it. The results will be free (or darn near), and some of the best collections you will ever find. Enjoy! My favorite at the moment are the original Tarzan books by Edgar Rice Burroughs. I found his complete works and am going through them one right after another. Now that's a HERO!

Why Read Older (Public Domain) Books?
  • Because they are good for you.
  • Because many are free (or practically)
  • Because they aren't teaching English in the public schools. The evidence is there whenever a teenager opens his/her mouth unfortunately.
  • Kindle has a built in dictionary for unfamiliar words. Your vocabulary will thank you!
  • Reading a classic is an education in itself, and a wonderful way to escape to another (sometimes but not necessarily kinder) world.
  • There is every genre you can imagine available, including some you may never have heard of.
  • As your reading vocabulary grows, your speaking will noticeably improve, along with your confidence.
  • You will find more intelligent people read for recreation. See for yourself. It is an amazing phenomenon.
  • There really is something for everyone.
  • You will make those publishers (who insist on inflating the prices on their books unfairly) crazy wondering why no one wants their stuff. Don't they understand? There is a lot of really great stuff available to read and keep us busy a long time.
