With your Kindle turned on and the Home screen showing, press the Menu button. Toggle down with the 5-way switch (Kindle 2) or press the down button in the 5-way navigation buttons until you see the word Settings underlined. Press in on the center button to view.Your Kindle serial number and software version will be at the bottom of the Settings screen.
