Kindle Skills - The Dots At The Bottom

Instinctively you know they mean something. Before you know it, you will be depending on them to always let you know when you are at any given area in a book, and move around in that book.

You should see the progress bar at the bottom of each page of any book you have opened with the finished percentage showing. The dots at the bottom of your Kindle 3 screen let you know if there are any chapters or sections designated in the book. You can navigate quickly from one section (chapter) to another by using the right button (in the 5-way area) to go forward or the left button to move back. Not all books have section or chapter markers, only the properly formatted ones.

If you are looking at your list of books on the Home screen pages, you will notice a separate set of dots under every publication. If it is a book you are reading, you will see some of those dots (from left to right) bold to indicate about how far you are into it. This  progress indicator is a quick way to see where you are in any book or periodical at all times. Notice too, some lines of dots are longer than others. The longer the line of dots, the longer the book is.

You can tell a lot by watching the dots. Don't you just love it?
