Kindle Skills - Take a Screenshot

Instead of trying to explain what is on your Kindle screen, take a picture (or snapshot) of what you see. You know what they say about a picture being worth... Once your little snap is taken, you just need to retrieve it from your Kindle. Then you can use it any way you want.

The keyboard command for screenshot is Alt+Shift+G. The shift key is the little arrow pointing up. All three of these keys need to be pressed at the same time (no easy feat, but practice is the key). If your screen shot is successful, you will see your Kindle screen flash.
To retrieve your image, plug your Kindle in with the USB cable, then navigate to the Documents folder. Inside that folder you will see the files for all the books you have stored on your little machine. You need to look for a filename that begins with screen_shot. Click on the file, then (while holding down your mouse button - left mouse button if you are on a PC) drag the file to your Desktop, out of the Documents folder on your Kindle. Since you are technically copying a file from an external drive (that is what your computer thinks your Kindle is when you plug it in via USB), the original file will remain on your Kindle in the Documents folder unless you actually go back and delete it. A nice new copy of your snapshot will be on the Desktop of your computer.
The file will have an extension of .gif, which is an image format. You should have no trouble opening the file by clicking the copy on your Desktop.
