Kindle Skills - Let It Sleep

There is no need to turn your Kindle off when you aren't using it. When you think about it, you really have to work to truly turn it off. You have to slide the switch on the bottom of the Kindle (or top if your Kindle is the previous model), and hold it for several seconds. Then you will see the screen go blank and it will be fully off. When you do this your battery has to work harder (and will drain quicker) when you turn it back on. There is also a longer wait while your Kindle "boots up."

To keep it nice and frisky, put it to sleep instead. This will happen automatically after about 10 minutes or so of inactivity, but you can do it manually by briefly sliding the switch and releasing it.

Because of the e-ink technology, the battery isn't in use unless you are turning pages, so the sleep mode seems to be the best choice unless you know you won't be using your Kindle for an extended period of time, like a week or so.
