A Goodie from Lizz

A sequel to Kitchen Addiction is coming soon! And Lizz has decided to plan a give-away and will send a signed copy of a paperback of Christmas Bizarre (the newest) or Kitchen Addiction (winner's preference) to the first 10 persons who post reviews for Christmas Bizarre (assuming these will be positive reviews)

All you need to do is email her (LizzLund.Author@gmail.com) your review and she will confirm via Amazon. From there she will contact you and get your mailing info and autograph preferences and she will send you whichever book you prefer.

Enjoy! Dear Readers... Here is the info on Christmas Bizarre from Lizz Lund.

The 2nd book in the series, "Christmas Bizarre" will be published as an ebook on or about August 14th, thru KDP Select/Amazon.  Paperback copies will also be ready on or about that time.

"Christmas Bizarre" should be a great beach read - here is it's description:

What do Santa’s Sidekick, a dead lawyer and a geriatric vampire have in common? Meet Mina Kitchen – a forty-something single who finds trouble quicker than she can whip up a batch of breakfast breads. Plural. Her catering disorder runs neck-and-neck with her weird luck, and her cat’s weirder tendency toward gnawing elf gear. Okay, and getting kidnapped a couple of times in one week is a little strange, too.
Her next door neighbor Vito's past as ex-leader of the Moils, the Jewish-Polish Family from Bumville, New Jersey, comes to light and throws a dollop of dilemmas into an already simmering plot.
Top it all off with a counterfeiting ring, a county-wide dearth of holiday wrapping tape, and a mass of pets running loose at the local mall, and what do you have? A recipe for disaster that Mina whips to a froth.
Christmas Bizarre will keep you smiling when you’re not shouting up a belly laugh. Set in Lancaster, “Pee-Ay” you’ll discover a lively cast of characters, funny dialogue and lots of twists and turns. Hang on tight – you’re in for a slalom of a holiday ride.

Frozen Footprints
"Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night." Eighteen-year-old twins Charlene and Max Perigard have grown up under the wealthy but tyrannical rule of their oil-tycoon grandfather. When Max disappears and a ransom note shows up, Charlene's world is shattered. She desperately tries to persuade her tight-fisted grandfather to pay, but the old man is convinced that Max is merely faking his kidnapping to extort money. Fearing the worst, Charlene determines to find her brother before it's too late. Her quest hurls her into a twisted, frigid world of snow and ice that leads to terror in an isolated cabin. Together the twins struggle for survival while enduring fierce trials of mind, body, and spirit. Devoid of all worldly comfort and consolation, will faith and hope be enough to get them through this chilling nightmare?

Awards: Frozen Footprints has been awarded the Catholic Writers Guild Seal of Approval and is a 2013 CALA Award Finalist.

Note: The author is currently working on a sequel to Frozen Footprints.

Don't neglect your LOCAL LIBRARY

Memphis Library
I have "played around" with our Memphis Library's ebook offerings for a couple of years now and up till now really haven't been impressed. The system was clunky and the pickings really weren't all that good. I was also a little disappointed to learn (the hard way) that if you didn't show any activity (download any books) for a year, that part of your library card would be turned off. The only way to reactivate it was to physically visit the library and have a worker reactivate your card. It was explained to me they just wanted to make sure I was still around.... don't really know what to think of that.

I found myself browsing on the library website this morning though, and was pleasantly surprised at the way the site seemed to work better. During the check out process I chose Kindle format and was immediately transferred to Amazon.com and (once I signed in) my book was on the way to my "kindle" of choice (my iPad Kindle app)... Very nice!

So, Dear Readers... let this be a lesson. Give your local library website another chance if you haven't already. You may be pleasantly surprised! Think of all the books with your name on them!

for the next few days actually... Thank you Emily!

A Duke squares off with a damaged, dangerous war veteran in TETHERBIRD, a novel called "amazingly powerful and beautifully written."

***
Former sniper Benjamin Cane's life is ripped apart after his version of the Bin Laden assassination is disavowed by the Marines, written off as a conspiracy theory. Displaying symptoms that could be PTSD, the man who returns from war is an entity his wife Mackey struggles to comprehend. Following an accident with his twin boys that never should have happened, Benjamin leaves the service, his life in a tailspin.

A Duke in the stately Gloucestershire countryside offers Benjamin a job in security. Surrounded by characters as eccentric as they are paranoid, Benjamin tries to navigate an environment rife with guns and outdated class structures, feeling like flotsam as a new civilian without his family.

Grisly and emotional twists surprise in this poignant tale narrated by cynical war crimes journalist Stanley Tern, who enters Benjamin's life to offer redemption and to pursue his own hidden agenda. Through layered, textured prose, TETHERBIRD asks whether our modern-day, gun-toting homelands may be more treacherous than any battlefield.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Read Tetherbird in solitude. Savor McDaid's mastery at weaving her language together and allow yourself to pay attention to all the voices. I invite you to do as I did and enjoy the story at leisure as it unfolds clearly before your mind's eye. If you do, you will join me in giving Tetherbird at least four stars and be tempted, were it allowed, to give it eleven." -- Kindle Book Review suspense novel reviewer Roger Woodbury

"The plot is well crafted. Even improbable events make perfect sense." -- Rachel Creager Ireland, author of Post Rock Limestone Carytids

"I haven't come across a writer like Emily McDaid in quite some time - if ever.  A highly intelligent writer, McDaid's laser-precision focus on creating compelling characterizations combined with unique, thought-provokng plots will jolt you awake and re-ignite your excitement for suspense novels." -- Bianca Sloane, author of Live and Let Die

Kitchen Addiction! (Mina Kitchen novels)

Meet Mina Kitchen, a forty-something single who likes to cook - and cook and cook. In fact, her zest for whipping up trays of canapes is dwarfed only by her weird luck and mountain-lion size tabby cat, Vinnie. That, and her godmom's tendency for blackmailing new members into joining St. Bart's. Okay, maybe Mina's Swiffer-addicted neighbor, Vito, is a bit weird, too. As if all that wasn't enough, Mina's a Jersey girl transplanted in the midst of the Amish-flavored countryside of Lancaster, PA.

Things get really complicated when she learns that her neighbor Vito is in a witness protection program, and her dry cleaner deals in prescription samples. Throw in a few mysterious flaming feces flingers and a fuse box labeled in Arabic, and you have a recipe for catering disorders.

Kitchen Addiction! will keep you smiling when you're not LOL-ing. Set in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, you'll find a surprising cast of characters, humorous plot twists, red herrings and actual recipes. Well, some of the recipes are real. The others you might to take with a pinch of salt, and some Tums.

If you're looking for a funny fiction read, packed with humor, excitement - and recipes - look no further. Lund's debut "chick lit" novel blends fun characters, great dialogue and zany capers into a frothy fiction that's sure to amuse. The novel also delivers a virtual tourist romp through the actual streets of Lancaster City and its surroundings.

From the Author

Mike Faricy writes suspenseful crime tales populated by unforgettable, whacky characters. His books are filled with the sort of oddballs and flakes we're all curious about, but wisely prefer to keep at a distance. Book Description

 June 10, 2013
With more than 50 recipes and lots of tips, How to Cook from Scraps is the perfect book for anyone who wants to go beyond meals that come out of a box or the freezer aisle. Learning to cook from scraps is about cooking efficiently and throwing away less. Sometimes cooking from scraps is learning to reinvent leftovers. Sometimes it is making your own broth. Cooking from scraps is always about making the food you already have in your house go further.

Cooking efficiently means saving money, creating less waste, and making meals entirely at home. Using the recipes and advice in How to Cook from Scraps, you will utilize every part of your food (even vegetable peels) and run your kitchen in a way that caters to this kind of efficiency. This book focuses on the recipes that are both from scraps and from scratch, but you will find as you make the meals that the tips for cooking this way will make you think differently about how your kitchen is organized.

If you don’t do any cooking from scraps or scratch yet, don’t be daunted. We will take you through the steps you need to change from a throw-away kind of kitchen, to a kitchen that makes wholesome and “whole” foods.
